This past summer marked an evening of Broadway at the White House as President Obama and the First Lady hosted leading stage stars for a celebration of the arts and an outreach to students. Dance students from Duke Ellington School of the Arts and the Joy of Motion Dance Center joined the cast of ‘Hairspray’ for some rehearsal time before performing musical numbers alongside the likes of Nathan Lane, Idina Menzel and Audra McDonald. The star-studded performances were streamed live online, however PBS is gearing up to broadcast “A Broadway Celebration: In Performance at the White House” on October 20. While we are awaiting the television special, PBS has posted some interview clips, filmed at the White House, with a handful of the Broadway talent headlining the gig. Take a look:
