It took little more than five minutes for me to hear the gay community squealing with outrage after Miss California pulled a fail whale during the Miss USA broadcast. Carrie Prejean, one of the 51 contestants battling for the tiara, told viewers that she was opposed to gay marriage.
Of course, everyone is allowed their opinion, no matter how backwoods it might be. But, when you are competing for a position of influence in this country, hate must not be tolerated. And thank goodness for Perez Hilton, the gossip queen of all media, as he was the one to ask 21-year-old Prejean the question.
“Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same-sex marriage,” said Hilton before asking Prejean, “do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?”
If Prejean would have at least articulated herself properly, she might have escaped the major backlash that is certainly headed her way. Instead, she said, “We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage.” Opposite marriage? I thought she was from California, not some slack-jaw village. She went on to say, “I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman.”
On a positive note, the powers behind the Miss USA contest didn’t award this ninny the crown, rather Miss North Carolina, Kristen Dalton, went home the winner. Although, Prejean sadly took second place.
I’m not one for pageant watching, as I had no clue this shindig was even going on, and after hearing what kind of antics happen at these events, I’m certain to continue my blackout.
Hilton, and many other prominent members of the media, must keep this a hot topic issue. As a native Southern Californian, I hope to one day shed my sense of shame following the Proposition 8 disaster. The Prejeans of the world certainly aren’t helping.
I guess you’re not allowed to be Miss USA if you’re a Christian. I hope Miss California sues since she only lost due to Hilton’s anti-Christian bigotry.
Frankly, Carrie Prejean has every right to express her views towards marriage but P. HILTON has absolutely NO, NO, & NO authority to question Carrie with any POLITICAL stand! Mrs. Hilton should be the one that getting REPRIMANDED for VIOLATING contestant rules for involving politics during pageant air time.
Finally, we CALIFORNIANS are very tired of our leaders being bought by a select few with “MASSIVE CASH BONUSES” for the sake of pushing their HIDDEN agenda of giving them SPECIAL rights for their “CHOSEN Hyper-Active LIFESYTLE!”
Let us now support Carrie Prejean In The FREEDOM Of Speech, Common-Sense that marriage is betwwn a man & WOMAN, and Protect our Childrens Future Security!
I can not believe that Miss California is the one who is being ridiculed for answering a question truthfully. I don’t believe that question should have been asked. Most americans are opposed the same sex marriages, I know I am, but if the majority of the people in a state agrees to pass that law, I will have to live with it just like I have to live with other laws that I don’t agree with, but that is why we live in the United States of America, isn’t it?
I applaud her for answering the question honestly. It took a lot of courage to stand up for what you believe specially regarding the delicate issue of same sex marriage. Since the beginning of times a marriage has consisted of a MAN and a WOMAN uniting, not something else.

It’s a shame that her dream of becoming Miss USA was not fulfilled because of Hilton’s question. She answered a question that should have not been asked, and she answered it with dignity. She was true to herself and her beliefs and now she’s being slammed for it. It think it’s a shame that people are looking down on her for standing up for her Christian beliefs. I agree 100% with her and I am glad to see her standing up for what’s right.
Yes, Miss CA was entitled to her opinion. It’s just incredibly sad that so much of the world is still so prejudiced. And when you’re in a position of influence, such as a Miss USA contender, it’s even worse. Because of her, a whole new generation of little girls just learned how to hate.

First of all, for her to claim that her answer cost her the crown is arrogant and disrespectful to the real winner.
She’s entitled to her opinion, but the way she stumbled through that answer gives us a glimpse of how unintelligent she really is. Furthermore, it is proof that pageants have outlived their time. Why give silicone-enhanced airheads a platform to spout out their nonsense?
Now, she’s making commercials for the National Organization for Marriage, which is clearly a hate-group. (Definition: Any organization in any sector of society that aggressively demonizes or dehumanizes members of a scapegoated target group in a systematic way.) Working to keep a specific sector of society from having equal rights qualifies.
What would the reaction be if she spoke out on behalf of the K K K? Or the Aryan Nation? Would she “have her rewards in heaven” then?

The Federal Government has identified over 1100 benefits afforded to married couples. These same benefits are denied to gay couples. Why? Because some want to impose their religious beliefs on the entire nation and use them to create a second-class.
Remember slavery? The Bible was used to justify that, too.
It’s amazing to me that the Miss California organization has not stripped her of her State title. She is an ignorant, reprehensible hate monger!
In a few months the same pictures would be wildly popular instead of condemned.

Now i’m glad that Prop 8 has been overturned. I am certainly not gay. However I’m good friends with people who are. I merely don’t see just what the big problem is all about homosexual people getting the identical rights we have.
What I don’t get (other than how we can have such an idiot for a president) is why would the Muslims even want this??? They have to know that it will only breed more anger towards them. The good news is this may be the straw that breaks the camels back to bring the U.S.A. back to a true United Country. I do feel so sorry for the poor souls that lost loved ones in 911, what a total slap in their face. I’m sorry.
